Kara Grainger appeared again at Jakarta Blues Festival 2011. This is her third performance at this festival. Previously, she was one of the line-up in 2009 and 2010.
Growing up in Sidney, Australia, and then relocating to the US in 2005, Kara Grainger spent the latter half of 1990’s as lead vocalist and guitarist with successful Sidney-based blues outfit, Papa Lips – which became a regular fixture and audience favorite at Sidney’s premiere music venue, The Basement.
Grand and Green River, Grainger’s debut album with producer-intrumentalist David Kalish and Barrie Macguire, features great musicians such as organist Jeff Young, also on the album is a duet with Blue Note singer Amos Lee in a song called On My Way.
Kara has performed at the 2006, 2007 and 2008 International Folk Alliance Conference in Austin and Memphis. She also played an official showcase at Austin’s SXSW in 2009. She has also played several times at the legendary House of Blues in LA opening for Eric Johnson, Jonny Lang, and fellow Australian singer (and actor) Russell Crowe. - Allex Aromatica & Budi Susanto
